Hacked by Hacker - PW Reset Tutorial Link

When you start the development on a website these days you make the assumption that sooner or later you'll be hacked. If it can happen to the Pentagon, it can happen to anyone.

Recently, a number of websites (including my own), were hacked by hacker. In spite of all efforts to maintain security it happens. The remedy: BACKUP.  Hackers take your website down, you grit your teeth, and install your backup. Hopefully, it works.

Akeeba Backup is what we use, and so far it's worked flawlessly. Thankfully.

Another Solution That Worked:  This particular hack prevented access to the website backend. You could not sign in. A password reset is what worked on at least one Joomla 2.5 website, and here is the tutorial on how to do it.

What was disconcerting of this hack is how it was done. It may not have been a hack on the actual website, but a hack on the server where the website lives. Here are the links to some light reading on the subject:
