Port Aransas, Texas

If there is anything that defines this beautiful island paradise on the Gulf of Mexico near Corpus Christi it is fishing. Here's the evidence that there are still fish in the sea and you don't need an expensive setup to catch them. Pictured is a kid heading home after a successful day out on the breakwater.

We camped overnight at Magee Park - Port Aransas where you can camp on the beach or, the RV and campground. Either way you have easy access to fishing and the beach. Overnight dry-camping on the beach is just $10. The campground, located just off the beach is $18. If you find other RV parks in the area full (especially in busy times like spring break) try heading to the end of the island and take advantage of this park.

This park is named in memory of I.B. Magee a Port Aransas resident who was widely known for his community support and it is operated by the Nueces County Parks department. There is a website. Park camping spaces and alocated on a first-come first-serve basis and there is power and water.
