Fine Wood Turnings by Herb Salter

I created a website for a friend of mine a couple of years ago to help promote the woodturnings he creates. This isn't a business, for Herb this is a hobby. A hobby, but something he's passionate about.

It's always interesting for me to see 'what's new.' The bowl you see here is new, he created it this winter while I was away (along with another ten or eleven items.)

Because I also normally do the photography I get to see things before others do. This is one of the reasons I volunteer to do the photography. One day a box arrives and there we have his effort for the last few weeks, or sometimes months. No two items are ever the same, each unique in all the world.

A friend gave him the roots of a tree he just dug out of his yard, and sometime down the road we're sure to see a bowl, tray or container emanating from that gift. Even in death, the tree leaves behind something that Herb (and woodturners like him) can fashion into useful and artistic creations that will survive and be cherished for years to come.

Visit his website and see more of his work. Remember, this is just a hobby.
